Things to do in Bar

Bar is Montenegro's main ferry port, with services to Bari in Italy taking around 9 hours overnight. It is also the terminus of the panoramic railway from Belgrade via Podgorica, a line known for its viaducts and tunnels through the mountains.

The modern port town, largely rebuilt after the 1979 earthquake, is separate from the ruined old town of Stari Bar a few kilometres inland, which has its own listing. Bar's other claim is the Stara Maslina, an olive tree estimated at over 2,000 years old, fenced off in a small park with an on-site museum.

There is little reason to linger in the port itself beyond a ferry connection or a walk along the marina.
