Things to do in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik makes a long but doable day trip from Kotor: reckon on 1h30 to 2h each way, and every kilometre of it runs through the Debeli Brijeg border crossing, where summer queues can add well over an hour if you arrive mid-morning.
30-7am to clear the border before the rush and reach the Old Town walls not long after they open at 8am, while the stone is still cool and the cruise crowds haven't landed. 5-2 hours at an unhurried pace, and gets genuinely uncomfortable in July-August heat by mid-morning.
Start heading back by mid-afternoon: the Pile and Ploce gates get congested by early evening, and the return border queue can be just as slow as the outbound one.
