Things to do in Perast

Perast sits 15-20 minutes by bus or boat from Kotor, along the northern shore of the bay. The village is small enough to see on foot in an hour: two Baroque churches, the Bujović Palace along the waterfront, and the bell tower of St Nicholas's Church, which you can climb for a view over the bay and its two islets.

Perast has a single jetty, from which boats leave for Our Lady of the Rocks and St George; both deserve their own visit rather than a rushed stop. Restaurants along the quay serve grilled fish and seafood risotto on shaded terraces, and make a logical lunch stop for anyone doing Kotor and Perast as a half-day trip.

Aim for late morning before the coach groups from Kotor's cruise-ship days arrive, roughly between 10am and 4pm from April to October.
