Things to do in Lovćen National Park

Lovćen National Park sits above Kotor, reached by the old Austrian-built road through Njeguši: 25 tight hairpins climbing from the Bay of Kotor up to around 1,600 m, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car from Kotor town. Built under Austro-Hungarian administration in the 19th century, the road was engineered for mule carts and military supply, not modern traffic, so allow extra time behind campervans and cyclists in summer.

Each bend opens a new angle on the bay below, with Kotor, Tivat and the Vrmac ridge laid out in sequence rather than one single viewpoint. Njeguši itself, roughly halfway up, is where the road levels off before continuing into the park; the tarmac is intact but narrow, with passing places rather than a full second lane on most stretches.

There is no fixed park entrance fee for driving the road itself; charges apply only at specific sites within the park.
