Things to do in Kolašin
Kolašin sits at around 950 m in the north, a two-season mountain town that works out cheaper than Žabljak and gets far fewer tour buses. It is roughly 1 h 30 from Podgorica and about 2 h 30 to 3 h from Kotor, depending on the route over the mountains, so it makes more sense as an overnight base than a day trip.
The main draw on the doorstep is Biogradska Gora National Park, one of Europe's last old-growth forest reserves, with the entrance a short drive from the town centre; entry is a few euros per person. In winter the small Kolašin 1450 ski area operates when snow allows, and in summer the same slopes turn into hiking and mountain-biking terrain.
Restaurant prices in town run noticeably below the coast.
