Things to do in Cavtat
Cavtat sits on the Croatian side of the border, about 10 minutes short of Dubrovnik if you are driving up from Kotor, which makes it roughly 1 h 50 to 2 h from Kotor itself depending on the queue at the crossing (add 1 to 3 hours in July and August). m. m. from April to October.
There is no city wall to pay for and no fixed entry fee to wander the waterfront, just cafes, a pebble and concrete bathing area, and a 15th-century Rector's Palace housing a small local museum.
It works as a lower-key alternative for anyone who wants a look at the Croatian coast without Dubrovnik's density, and it can be paired with a Dubrovnik half-day on the same trip since the drive between the two towns is under 20 minutes.
